New DotA Game Coming?

In case some of you are interested, Valve Software recently trademarked 'Defense of the Ancients'. The extremely popular mod for Blizzard's strategy Warcraft 3 has evidently caught the attention of the well-known development studio. Now, at present there are only rumors surrounding this report, indicating that the developer might be looking to collaborate on a new DotA game with the famous 'Icefrog' team.

Personally, Warcraft 3 is one of the best real-time strategy games I've ever experienced and DotA's mechanics sure are catchy once you get into it.

I'm really hoping this turns into something new and refreshing. God knows we need more decent strategy games out there.

Well, yeah, I know there's SC 2 too :)

E3 Again and Again

The same as every year, gamers and journalists around the world gather to in LA to find out all there is to know about some of the latest gaming projects, which, of course includes the industry's top development studios and publishers. Usually, the E3 brings a few surprise announcements and next to the fresh media we've seen on the new Deus Ex game, there probably won't much to see...

Wait, what the hell am I saying? Didn't you guys hear? Almost everyone's talking about how Valve may actually announce Half-Life 3 during this year's E3. First they said, they would showcase Portal 2. Then they've canned the E3 presentation on that one. Now, all they are saying is that gamers can expect a surprise announcement. Sources are already saying it's HL3 (oh and it's not HL2: Episode Three, because Valve's Gabe Newell said it's not and his word is all you need).

Valve Needs to Focus On Freeman

Okay, maybe Valve doesn't need to focus on Gordon Freeman, but I sure as hell need them to focus on Gordon Freeman. It's been way too long since they've released Half-Life 2: Episode Two (and TF 2 and Protal) - one of the best gaming packages ever released.

Since they've created Left 4 Dead and their online distribution service Steam, Valve doesn't seem to give a damn about Half-Life. Something tells me they just don't have the time to work on a new HL title. And that sucks ballz!

The gaming scene could do with another Half-Life episode (preferably a full new installment - i.e. Half-Life 3). Otherwise, life's just not worth it... gaming wise, you understand.

Team Fortress 2 Comic

Don't know if any of you guys are aware, but the official Team Fortress 2 web site features a Team Fortress 2 comic. It's worth a peek. This edition ends with a tease for the next episode.

The plot for the comic focuses on "a healthy competition between the Soldier and the Demoman." So, is this an actual hint for future game updates or...

We'll see.

Appreciating Rain & Fog & L4D 2

An unusually sunny morning here in my hometown after days and days of rain and fog. Now, I never told anybody this before, but I'm actually quite cool with rain and fog, especially at night. It calls out the worst and deadliest creatures so they can roam free, turn into zombies and devour human brains.

Sorry, I guess I'm getting pre-Halloween jitters again.

Also, I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of Valve's Left 4 Dead 2, which is scheduled for release next month (shame they won't be launching that one on Halloween). Still, at least we'll get the demo - I think it's due later today.
