Kick-Ass Kicking Ass

Apparently Kick-Ass kicks so much ass, which is good news because I had high hopes for this movie. I think it's an original twist on an all-too-familiar concept of heroes. the movie isn't out yet, but the first review seems to be positive.

Can't wait to check it out.

Recalling Frazetta

Even though some consider his work to be tacky, I have very fond memories of Frank Frazetta's work. There's sort of an emotional bond attached to most of his work - from my part, at least.

I dunno, I guess I miss such artists. Yes, there are many talented people out there working today, but some things you just can't forget. Some of Frazetta's portraits and pictures hold a great deal of fascination for me. Plus, his fantasy themed and sci-fi illustrations influenced a great number of modern day artists and that's no lie.

Here's to you, Fraz! Oh, can I call you Fraz?

Tip of The Day

Here's a bit of advice. If you have the means to furnish your humble abode with a huge, kick-ass HD TV or monitor, you might want to rethink the purchase. Sure, you're gonna have an incredible screen and everybody else is gonna envy you, but here's the real problem. Most movies, when viewed using full High Definition splendor (1080p) tend to look like crap. I kid you not.

With such a screen, you'll be in the position to tell how crappy the makeup, costumes and special effects were. Most of the flicks that looked top-notch in the cinema and on normal TVs, can look awful as fuck on a proper HD TV.

If you're the kind of person that's not bothered by such things while watching movies then go ahead, buy away.

Diving Into The World of Avatar Tomorrow

Tomorrow I'll be off to check out Avatar in 3D (well, 6D actually). Anyway, it appears most critics liked the movie, so that's a good start for J. Cameron, after twelve years of idleness shall we say. Well, okay, so he wasn't completely idle - that's for sure. He kept himself busy with this "little" flick.

Avatar evidently took a long, long time to make.

We shall see if the wait was worth it.

Superhero Flicks

Movies... No matter how much I enjoy movies based on comic book heroes, the whole superhero thing is starting to get on my nerves a bit. Never in my nerdish existence have I yearned to see a flick based on Green 'fucking' Lantern. Fair enough, you never know - it might turn into a decent action film. Although with all the superheroes charging across the big screen right now, it just doesn't seem possible people will go insane all of a sudden and crave Green Lantern (boy, that's gotta be the stupidest name for a super hero ever).

Anyway, I'm also concerned about the movie adaptation of Thor. The comics were always there to keep me company when I was a kid. Come to think of it I enjoy reading Thor comics to this very day.

In all fairness, I'm having a tough time imagining Thor on the big screen.

Avatar is Coming

Good day, folks. There's nothing better than enjoying a nice cup of coffee, while reading a little Calvin & Hobbes. I've read them all a 1000 times, but they never get dull.

By the way, the advice of the week is: go and check out James Cameron's Avatar. Of course, I'm talking about the promised and highly-touted 15-min. trailer for the upcoming sci-fi flick.

I'll be giving it a look to be sure.
