Clash of the Titans... What's it Like?

Ha, I knew it! Clash of the Titans turns out to be crap.

Here's a quote from a recently published review: "Poorly written nonsense, but lovers of beefcake action will be happy enough with the heroes gymnastically vaulting monsters and slicing and dicing their way around the ancient world. An extra star for Ralph Fiennes, who is a god."

Other critics don't think much of it either.

On A Matter Not Related to Gaming...

This looks really, really good. Not exactly too original, but it does have everything to guarantee a top-notch Hollywood epic.

I'm game.

It's Robin Hood time... again.

Thor The Movie

Okay, I'm just trying to establish if this is accurate... and, I'll be damned it is! Kenneth Branagh is going to direct the Thor movie, with Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Tom Hiddleston as Loki and freakin' Rene Russo as Frigga.

Fair enough, Kenneth Branagh may take a more classical approach to the whole story (provided he doesn't get too carried away like he did with Hamlet). His involvement could actually be a good thing considering his style of movie-making and the type of story-telling we see in Thor comics. It's the cast that worries me. Although I'm still not 100% sure if the cast list is official, I have to say that many of these actors and actresses simply aren't suited for the characters they are supposed to portray (possibly with Hopkins as Odin being the only real exception).

Time will tell.

Kick-Ass

I'm not one to put trust and optimism into everything that comes out of Hollywood, but this seems to be a rather interesting interpretation of a cliché that's been lingering in movie-making way too long.

Personally, I think it brings a cool twist to an all-to-familiar idea of superheroes (in this case, ones that don't have any super powers whatsoever).

When it comes out, it could be worth a looksy.

Diving Into The World of Avatar Tomorrow

Tomorrow I'll be off to check out Avatar in 3D (well, 6D actually). Anyway, it appears most critics liked the movie, so that's a good start for J. Cameron, after twelve years of idleness shall we say. Well, okay, so he wasn't completely idle - that's for sure. He kept himself busy with this "little" flick.

Avatar evidently took a long, long time to make.

We shall see if the wait was worth it.

Make Way For PoP: The Forgotten Sands

Coinciding with the release of the upcoming movie Prince of Persia, Ubisoft announced a new video game to be released under the popular game brand. Well, it's actually it a new installment in the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time series. The game is going to appeal to both hardcore and casual gamers, according to Ubisoft. "The goal is to reach both audiences, the core and casual gamers. It will be a game that will have lots of combat, with the possibility for gamers that are not as good - a level for beginners. In that sense we are trying to cover both groups," said Ubi's CEO Yves Guillemot recently.

You can check out the debut trailer for Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands is expected to appear on Spike TV's Video Game Awards on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 8 p.m. EST.

The game hits consoles and handhelds during May 2010.

Just Browsing

That's right. I was just browsing through today's choice of webcomics. I've noticed that the themes during the past month have more or less been the same - Dragon Age, Modern Wafare 2, Microsoft, EA... and other hot gaming industry topics.

I've noticed that very few people have tackled Emmerich's recent Hollywood blockbuster, 2012. However, MyExtraLife seems to have done a damn good job of it :) This comic made me LOL so hard. Of course, I've watched the movie 2012. Although, I don't think you need to see the flick in order to understand the gist of the comic.

Never Again...

No game, no book, no movie, no song, no real person will make me forget the disaster movie I saw last night. 2012 is another traditional Hollywood blockbuster crapfest, but the visual effects in this one are nothing short of stunning.

I continue to have nightmares about the end of the world and it's all thanks to Roland Emmerich.

Bastard!

Prince of Persia Official Movie Trailer

Judging from the first official trailer for the Prince of Persia movie, they've remained true to the some of the key elements that defined the PoP Sands of Time series. This is good to know.

Anyway, have a look at the trailer:

The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus

Now, I am a huge fan of Terry Gilliam and his work. However, it appears his latest movie, featuring Heath Ledger, hasn't really lived up to expectations. At least that's what the initial reviews say.

Okay, therein lies the real problem. Due to Gilliam's reputation and Ledger's talent, people are going to expect way too much from this flick. That's exactly why it may flop or simply fail to achieve what everybody feels it should.

Shame.
